MANHATTAN, Kan.
The season that will determine where Bruce Weber lives a year from now begins with optimism. At least, it does here, in this gym, the Kansas State men’s basketball players and coaches walling off the doubt they know exists on the outside.
In here, though, they don’t talk about it. Not directly, anyway. They understand reality, that Weber’s fifth season probably needs to include the NCAA Tournament for him to have a sixth, but what’s the point of dwelling on it?
The important stuff is the details, the team-building. The important stuff is Wesley Iwundu arriving in his senior season as one of the Big 12’s better players.
