Texas confirms Tulsa's Gilbert to become offensive coordinator

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas coach Charlie Strong has formally announced the addition of offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert from Tulsa and other staff changes as he tries to remake his offense after a 5-7 season.

Strong announced the moves on Saturday.

Strong, Texas President Greg Fenves and Athletic Director Mike Perrin flew to Tulsa on Friday night to woo Gilbert, who will call plays and coach quarterbacks. Gilbert gets a three-year contract worth $850,000 per year.

Texas also hired Tulsa’s Matt Mattox as offensive line coach and run-game coordinator. He gets a three-year contract worth $550,000 per year.
