AMES, Iowa — For the second straight week, Kansas State needed to survive an onside kick to win a game.
The Wildcats beat Iowa State, 31-26, after the Cyclones scored 16 straight points in the fourth quarter and then attempted to get the ball back with fewer than 50 seconds left in Jack Trice Stadium.
The Cyclones touched the ball before it reached 10 yards, and K-State ran out the clock to hang on. All three of the Wildcats’ Big 12 wins have come after opponents kicked an onside kick at the end of the game.
Wildcat coach Bill Snyder said he wanted to see his team finish better across the board.
