On paper, the Kansas State women are exactly where they were a year ago, sitting at 10-1 overall, the non-conference slate wrapped up and ready to begin the 18-game Big 12 gauntlet.
But K-State coach Jeff Mittie said while it’s always difficult to compare one team to another, there is a different feeling about this year’s team as they get set to host Iowa State on Wednesday night.
The second-year head coach is right. K-State is scoring at a better rate this year — averaging nearly 73 points a game — and still using the suffocating defense it played a year ago, all while blowing out its opponents down the recent stretch with ease.
