This year’s Sunflower Showdown inside Allen Fieldhouse featured four Kansas natives.
The star of the show was Jayhawk senior forward Perry Ellis, from Wichita, Kansas, who had 19 points and five rebounds.
Ellis went 3-3 from the 3-point line and had a big steal in the second half, giving the Jayhawks momentum and helping them capture the win.
“I was just trying to find the open spot in our offense and my teammates found me,” Ellis said after the game. “I just try to take good shots, and I’ll leave it at that. I’ve got a lot of 3’s from the pick and pop, and I’ve just been trying to execute on those.
