LAWRENCE — The football season has not played out as either Kansas State or Kansas would have liked, but as the rivals meet in the Sunflower Showdown there is no lack of motivation for either team.
After snapping a six-game losing streak last week, K-State (4-6, 1-6 Big 12) is on the second leg of its three-week run to become bowl eligible while KU (0-11, 0-8) has one final chance to avoid a winless season in the 3 p.m. kickoff Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
“There is a lot of emotion that goes into this game,” said Morgan Burns, the Wildcats’ senior cornerback from Wichita.
