This week’s events at the University of Missouri showed the nation what many around the sports world already knew.
High-level college sports teams, football players in particular, are a sleeping giant of sorts.
When the Tiger football team decided to walk out on team activities until Tim Wolfe’s resignation as president of the University of Missouri system, it made national headlines. Threatening to not play against BYU on Saturday, a game worth millions to Mizzou, got everyone’s attention and also presented Tigers’ head coach Gary Pinkel with a decision.
Many have speculated this week that once Pinkel lent his name to the cause and came out in full support of his team, it was over for Wolfe.
