MANHATTAN — The epidemic of injuries to Kansas State's football team has been well documented, and the defensive secondary has been particularly hard hit.
Injuries have sidelined senior safety Dante Barnett and senior cornerback Danzel McDaniel for the season, senior cornerback Morgan Burns missed one game and sophomore safety Kaleb Prewett sat out the Texas game last week.
The door was open for young, inexperienced players to step up, and among those who have thrived is safety Sean Newlan. The sophomore from Phillipsburg High School has played every game, drawing his first start at Texas in place of Prewett at free safety.
