Ron Freeman gets K-State basketball offer on his birthday

Ron Freeman received some nice gifts on his 19th birthday Tuesday, but the best present came from Kansas State basketball coach Bruce Weber.

Freeman received a call from Weber offering a basketball scholarship, and he didn’t hesitate in accepting to complete the Wildcats’ 2015 recruiting class.

“It’s a great day, a great day,” Freeman said in a telephone interview from a Chicago airport while en route to New York to visit family. “It’s the best birthday present I could get.”

Freeman is a 6-foot-5, 172-pound wing from Los Angeles. He attended Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, graduating in 2014, and signed to play at Cal State Fullerton.
