Robert Streb ties major championship record, ties for PGA Championship lead

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. — Former Kansas State standout Robert Streb tied the major championship record with a 63 to move into a tie with Jimmy Walker for the lead in the second round of the PGA Championship.

Streb had eight birdies and a bogey to become the 28th player to shoot a 63 in a major. It was the 30th time it has been accomplished. Streb is making his second PGA Championship appearance, having finished 10th last year at Whistling Straits.

Streb closed with three birdies in his last four holes to reach the majors’ magic number. He made a 20-footer for birdie on the par-3 ninth, his final hole of the day.
