ST. ANDREWS, Scotland — Robert Streb admits he still isn’t completely at ease at the British Open.
“I wouldn’t say I’m overly comfortable,” he said Thursday. “I still don’t know what to expect when the wind changes around and things, but I’m just going to try and do my best and see how I do.”
Streb’s first-round performance was plenty good, belying his anxiety.
The former Kansas State standout looked like a season pro while making his Open debut and first appearance at St. Andrews' Old Course, shooting a 6-under 66 to join a pack of players tied for second place, one shot behind Dustin Johnson.
