We're going to bypass our usual Friday practice of offering trenchant editorial commentary, and instead offer our thoughts and prayers to the community of Hesston. Kansas has, remarkably, been historically free of incidents such as this, with the last known spree shooting occuring at Goddard Junior High way back in 1985. (There have been multiple-victim homicides in Kansas since, but they've all been of the home variety.)
But it's still pretty terrible to see the trend encroach on the Sunflower State.
