Mittie rides tieless streak with win streak

Jeff Mittie doesn’t really want to wear a tie all the time.

Now the Kansas State coach has a good reason not to, at least if his Wildcats keep winning games.

The second-year K-State coach always wears a tie for games. Mittie says his wife helps him pick the tie — something his kids used to do when they were younger.

All that changed on Jan. 13, though, when Mittie and associate head coach Brian Ostermann showed up to Bramlage Coliseum wearing the exact same tie. The two coaches had received the ties as gifts from assistant coach Ebony Gilliam a year earlier.
