MANHATTAN — Levi MaVorhis was understandably emotional before he took the mound for Kansas State on Saturday.
MaVorhis was one of nine Wildcats honored in a pregame senior day ceremony with his parents making the trip from Freeland, Wash., and the right-hander may have been a bit distracted at the start. The first two Kansas batters hit deep fly-ball outs to left field, then Devin Foyle homered to right.
MaVorhis gained his composure, retiring the next eight batters and hurling the Wildcats to a 12-2 victory over the Jayhawks in the Sunflower Showdown at Tointon Family Stadium.
