Levi MaVorhis struck out a career-high 12 and limited Milwaukee to just three hits over seven shutout innings as the Kansas State baseball team blanked the Panthers, 7-0, on Sunday at Tointon Family Stadium.
The Wildcats (10-5) clinched the series against Milwaukee (4-11) behind the effort of MaVorhis, who set down 21 of the 24 batters faced. The senior did not issue a walk, while his strikeouts were the most since Matt Applegate also had a dozen against New Orleans on May 14, 2011.
After allowing back-to-back hits in the first, MaVorhis went on to retire 16 in a row until a leadoff single in the seventh.
