First, the most sincere congratulations to our new enemies from Catonsville on knocking off a one-seed in the first round. Until someone else does it, UMBC will stand alone and, if you think about it, as a calling card it’s more valuable to them than winning the entire tournament would be to nearly any other remaining team.
(Marshall. Nevada. Not Loyola; after all, they’ve already won it once. And not Butler or Gonzaga either, because they’re already basketball-famous despite never having won the crown.)
But the singular achievement part... that’s not entirely true, is it?
