Local sports briefs for June 8: Washburn Rural's Blume signs letter of intent

Washburn Rural’s Mitchell Blume has signed a letter of intent with Allen County to play soccer. Blume helped Rural defend its Centennial League championship and finish second in Class 6A during the 2014 season.

K-STATE TRACK ATHLETES, COACH RECEIVE REGIONAL HONORS:Kansas State track and field women’s coach Cliff Rovelto, junior women’s athlete Akela Jones and junior men’s athlete Ifeanyichukwu Otuonye were honored by the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday.

Rovelto was named the Midwest women’s coach of the year for the seventh time in his career. He was also honored by the Big 12 and USTFCCCA for this year’s indoor season.
