Local sports briefs for June 24: Robbers fall to Wind

Clay Ardeeser and Willie Ethington each drove in three runs and Garden City (17-16) used a four-run seventh inning to rally past the Topeka Train Robbers 9-8 Friday at Bettis Sports Complex.

Tyler Shannon had two hits and two RBIs for the Robbers (14-20), while Connor Sheridan added three RBIs and Gabriel Acevedo belted a solo home run.

K-STATE INCOMING FRESHMAN WINS AJGA EVENT: Kansas State men’s golf incoming freshman Levi Valadez fired a 54-hole score of 9-under 207 this week at The Woodlands, Texas, to win his first American Junior Golf Association event, the Patrick Reed Junior Championship.
