Local sports briefs for Dec. 29, 2015: K-State's Sean Snyder named coordinator of the year

Kansas State’s Sean Snyder was named the 2015 FootballScoop Special Teams Coordinator of the Year on Tuesday. He will receive the award in January.

Snyder, the associate head coach and special teams coordinator at K-State, has coached each of the last three Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year winners in Tyler Lockett (2013-14) and Morgan Burns (2015). Kickers Jack Cantele, Matthew McCrane and punter Nick Walsh were also recognized with All-Big 12 awards this season.

Other finalists for the award were Jay Boulware, Oklahoma; Ed Foley, Temple and Kelly Poppinga, BYU.

COLTS SIGN EX-WILDCAT FREEMAN:The Colts have signed free agent quarterback and ex-Kansas State star Josh Freeman with their top three options injured or out altogether.
