Liberty Bowl has strong interest in K-State

When Kansas State and West Virginia meet on the football field Saturday on senior day, the two teams will do so in front of a representative from the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.

The bowl is showing strong interest in the Wildcats, who have never played in the longtime Memphis, Tenn., bowl, which has been played every year since 1959.

In an interview with the Kansas City Star, Liberty Bowl executive director Steve Ehrhart said the bowl has been interested in K-State since contracting with the Big 12 in 2013.

“We pride ourselves on being a very national game,” Ehrhart told the Star.
