MANHATTAN — A dominant presence in the paint, Kansas State’s Breanna Lewis has seen it all from defenders tasked with guarding her.
Even with Drake pulling out all the stops — double-teaming, face-guarding and trying to obstruct Lewis’ vision — nothing caught the 6-foot-5 center completely off guard in Kansas State’s NCAA Tournament opener on Saturday at Bramlage Coliseum.
“The hands in the face was new, but other than that, I’m used to getting doubled and people face-guarding me,” Lewis said.
And nothing Drake threw at Lewis helped the Bulldogs keep her neutralized, with the senior putting up 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to lead the Wildcats into the second round of the tournament with a 67-54 victory.
