Many have tried and most have failed in copying Kansas State coach Bill Snyder’s blueprint for building a college football program.
Charlie Weis came to Kansas and tried to implement one facet, bringing in several junior college players. That didn’t work.
Now, first-year KU coach David Beaty wants to emulate the grit displayed by K-State, which was on full display last Saturday when the Wildcats rallied from a 21-point halftime deficit — scoring 10 points in the final 42 seconds — to beat Iowa State 38-35.
“Those dudes are resilient, they keep playing and they’re right there at the end of every game they’re playing,” Beaty said Monday on the Big 12 teleconference.
