MANHATTAN — The Kansas State women’s basketball team overcame a rough first half Monday to overwhelm the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley 61-43 at Bramlage Coliseum.
The Wildcats started to pull away with a 13-4 run in the third quarter. At halftime, K-State led by only four points after being pressured into 11 turnovers in the first half.
Junior guard Kindred Wesemann, one of K-State’s leading scorers on most nights, struggled to produce at her normal level Monday, but sophomore forward Kaylee Page filled the void, even securing the team’s first double-double of the season with a 12-point, 13-rebound performance.
