Kansas State freshman Barry Brown wins Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

Kansas State freshman guard Barry Brown was named Big 12 newcomer of the week Monday, following a pair of strong individual performances against Texas and Oklahoma.

Brown led the Wildcats in scoring in both games, finishing with 15 points in a loss at Texas and 19 points and eight rebounds in a loss at Oklahoma. Overall, he has led K-State in scoring in four of his past five games.

Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield was named Big 12 player of the week after he scored 46 points against Kansas and 31 against K-State.

Brown will try to keep his hot streak going on Tuesday when K-State hosts Texas Tech.
