LAWRENCE — Svi Mykhailiuk traveled the length of the court in less than six seconds and sunk Kansas State’s upset hopes with a layup.
The Wildcats fought back from a 12-point deficit in the second half to tie the game with 1:18 to go and had a chance to win it. But a 3-point shot from Dean Wade missed and the ball bounced off of the Wildcats out of bounds with 5.6 seconds to play.
No. 3 Kansas won the game on Mykhailiuk’s shot that beat the buzzer, 90-88.
The sophomore guard from Ukraine took off near the 3-point line and clearly took three steps before going up for his shot with no call for traveling.
