MANHATTAN — It was a routine play Dante Barnett had made hundreds of times during his football career, but it turned out to be far from routine.
Near the end of the first half of Kansas State’s opening game of the 2015 season, Barnett tackled a South Dakota player and felt a stinging sensation in his shoulder.
“At first I thought it was a little stinger,” said Barnett, the Wildcats’ senior strong safety. “When I got up and started moving, I couldn’t move it. I thought I’d be out a couple of weeks. I never thought it would be the whole season.
