MANHATTAN — The first two weeks of practice for the Kansas State women’s basketball team in coach Jeff Mittie’s second season has been one step forward, two steps back.
The K-State veterans, part of a 19-14 team that reached the second round of the WNIT, are progressing with experience in the system but injuries are hampering the progress of some of the newcomers.
“It seems a lot different than a year ago,” Mittie said Thursday at K-State’s media day. “We’ve had a little more time, obviously, and I think we’re further along in that regard. We had good, solid summer, but we have a lot of new faces.
