MANHATTAN — The Kansas State women’s basketball team used a strong presence in the paint to run away from Washburn in its season-opening exhibition, beating the Ichabods 75-48.
The Wildcats scored 46 points in the paint. Junior Breanna Lewis nearly topped her career high with 22 points, also reeling in two offensive rebounds.
“(Lewis) really improved and has worked hard to get her footwork better,” K-State coach Jeff Mittie said. “Time is a part of that, but you also have to put your time in the gym, and she had a good summer and a good productive fall.
