K-State women ready for Stanford with Sweet 16 on line

MANHATTAN — To stay alive in the NCAA Tournament, the Kansas State women will have to go through a tradition-rich Stanford program that is aiming for its 10th straight trip to the Sweet 16.

But Kansas State coach Jeff Mittie doesn’t expect any intimidation on the part of the Wildcats, who battled through the rigors of the Big 12 during the regular season and opened the tournament with a convincing win over Drake.

“We know we have a big challenge, but anyone left in the tournament — anyone in the tournament — has a good basketball team,” Mittie said.
