K-State track, field looks to continue history of success in season opener

K-State indoor track opens up the 2015-16 season with the Carol Robinson Winter Pentathlon today and the K-State Winter Invitational on Saturday.

The Wildcats are coming off of a very successful outdoor season last summer, with the K-State women finishing ninth in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

It was their first top 10 finish as a team since 2002.

Now all of the major players are back once again, including seniors Akela Jones, Sara Savatovic, Dani Winters and junior Kim Williamson who are all defending their Big 12 Indoor Titles.

Jones is fresh off of a outdoor heptathlon national championship, posting the fourth largest heptathlon mark in Collegiate history in only her second heptathlon ever.
