AMES, Iowa — Kansas State’s Akela Jones finished the weekend with three individual titles at the Big 12 Championships.
The senior won the women’s long jump on Friday and then came back Saturday to win the high jump and 60-meter hurdles titles, helping the K-State women to a third-place finish at the Lied Recreation Center.
Joining Jones on the medal stand was fellow senior Sonia Gaskin and sophomore Christoff Bryan, who won the first conference titles of their careers on Saturday. Gaskin won in the 600-yard run, while Bryan won the high jump.
The seventh-ranked women’s squad put up a strong overall performance in the meet, finishing third with 107.
