MANHATTAN — When it was good, Kansas State had the ability to pull away and get one play away from burying Texas. When it was bad, K-State made mistakes on both sides of the ball and let the Longhorns stay in the game.
The Wildcats had enough of a lead and enough of the good plays to hang on for a 24-21 victory over Texas on Saturday at Snyder Family Stadium.
“It was a game of two halves,” K-State coach Bill Snyder said. “It beats the tar out of a loss.”
Quarterback Jesse Ertz, returning from last week’s shoulder injury, turned in a strong game by completing 20 of 27 passes for 171 yards and one touchdown while rushing 18 times for 78 yards and two TDs.
