K-State set for start of spring football practice

Spring football practice begins Wednesday at Kansas State with the usual scenario of having a handful of starting positions to fill, primarily on defense, but a strong returning nucleus as a foundation.

K-State lists 14 returning starters, eight on offense and six on defense, with a total of 18 players who started at least one game in 2016 when the Wildcats put together a 9-4 season capped by a Texas Bowl victory over Texas A&M.

One different situation facing the Wildcats involves the coaching staff. Head coach Bill Snyder is entering his 26th season but the 77-year-old College Football Hall of Fame member has spent the off-season dealing with throat cancer.
