MANHATTAN — Coming off a winning series against No. 3 TCU, Kansas State should have come out with some momentum against Wichita State. Instead, the Wildcats were flat and fell behind 4-0 in the fifth inning.
The wake-up call came just in time.
K-State scored three runs in the fifth, got the tying run home in the bottom of the ninth and pulled out a 5-4 victory in the 10th inning on Jake Wodtke’s two-out, bases-loaded single.
“It’s a tough situation,” Wodtke said. “Everybody wants to get it done and a lot of guys tend to press.
