KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two wins to end the regular season. A victory over the No. 9-ranked team in the conference tournament, followed by a one-point loss to the No. 11 team in the semifinals.
Is that enough to get Kansas State in the NCAA Tournament?
Maybe, but the Wildcats could have erased all doubts and speculation had they not let a 12-point second-half lead slip away in a 51-50 loss to West Virginia in the Big 12 Tournament semifinals Friday at Sprint Center.
That disheartening loss to the Mountaineers, another example of the Wildcats’ pattern of not putting away opponents, might cause a couple of sleepless nights until the NCAA bracket is announced Sunday.
