MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The process of calling in a play from the sideline, or checking to a different play before the snap, has been a problem for Kansas State.
Whether it is crowd noise or simple miscommunication, the Wildcats have burned timeouts and taken delay of game penalties early in the season. Perhaps it’s the by-product of a first-year starting quarterback and a rebuilt offensive line, but those issues were prevalent in a 17-16 loss to West Virginia on Saturday.
“As a whole, we had communication problems,” running back Charles Jones said. “Signaling plays late, audibling plays late, terrible clock management, not getting on the ball fast enough, which is what coach (Bill) Snyder preaches.
