LUBBOCK, Texas – Kansas State found itself playing catch-up right from the start. That’s a bad scenario for the Wildcats, who fell into a 21-point hole in the first quarter.
The Wildcats were able to gain their footing and remained within reach of Texas Tech as the second half began. Needing something to swing momentum their way, it came on the Red Raiders’ opening possession when defensive tackle Will Geary stripped the ball from running back DeAndre Washington and recovered the fumble at the Tech 19-yard line.
K-State cashed in when quarterback Joe Hubener plunged in for his third 1-yard touchdown of the game, and the Wildcats were in business with only a seven-point deficit.
