OKLAHOMA CITY — Kansas State got off to a fast start, building a four-run lead in the top of the fourth inning, but Texas Tech put up seven unanswered runs to beat the Wildcats 8-5 in the opening round of the Big 12 Conference baseball tournament Wednesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The loss puts K-State, 26-30 and the No. 8 seed, in an elimination game against Oklahoma at 9 a.m. Thursday. The Sooners lost 6-0 to West Virginia.
The Wildcats jumped on top with a three-run first inning as Jake Scudder, the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, had a two-run double and Tyler Moore drove in a run with a fielder's choice.
