K-State has longest losing streak since 1989

Kansas State’s football program has taken a step back. All the way back to 1989.

“We’re 0-6 in the Big 12, and I don’t know how long it’s been since we’ve done that,” K-State offensive tackle Cody Whitehair said this past Saturday after a 59-44 loss at Texas Tech.

The Wildcats have never been 0-6 in the Big 12. The current six-game losing streak is K-State’s longest since 1989 when, in coach Bill Snyder’s first season, it lost the final seven to go 0-7 in the Big Eight in a 1-10 season.

Snyder doesn’t see a parallel between the 1989 team, when he inherited a 26-game losing streak, and the 2015 downturn of a program that has been to five straight bowl games.
