K-State football, basketball players earn Big 12 honors

MANHATTAN — A good week for Kansas State's football and basketball teams was rewarded Monday with player of the week honors from the Big 12 Conference.

K-State football swept the awards with wide receiver Deante Burton named co-offensive player of the week, while linebacker Charmeachealle Moore took defensive honors and Morgan Burns on special teams. In basketball, Dean Wade was the newcomer of the week.

While there were only two Big 12 football games last Saturday, the Wildcats had strong performances from their trio of honorees in a 24-23 victory over West Virginia.

Burns earned an unprecedented fourth straight special teams honor by returning a kickoff 97 yards for the game-winning touchdown with 12:53 left in the fourth quarter.
