WACO, Texas — Following a hard-fought win over Delaware State in the opening round of the NCEA National Championship, the Kansas State equestrian team couldn’t carry the momentum into Friday’s quarterfinal round, losing to top-seeded Auburn in a 15-1 decision at the Extraco Events Center.
The loss ends the season for the Wildcats and is also the final curtain call for the program itself, which will be replaced by women’s soccer this fall.
K-State finished the year with a 5-11 record.
The Wildcats would need a strong performance to contend with top-seeded Auburn, which breezed into the semifinals with the big win.
