K-State duo win fishing title

Kansas State fishermen Kyle Alsop and Taylor Bivins won the 2016 Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship on Saturday in Campellsville, Kentucky.

Alsop and Bivins finished the three-day event on Green River Lake with 36 pounds, 4 ounces.

The K-State team was the only one in the field of 89 teams to bring in more than 10 pounds every day.

“It was a grind,” Bivins told Bassmaster.com. “We had to fish really slow the whole time.”

Bivins graduated from K-State in May with a degree in wildlife and outdoor enterprise management.

Alsop is a senior in engineering.
