MANHATTAN — Kansas State broke out of its offensive doldrums, putting together an impressive running game led by quarterback Joe Hubener.
The Wildcats’ methodical, grind-it-out style, however, was no match for the quick-strike, big-play Baylor attack.
Hubener torched Baylor’s defense for 153 rushing yards, but freshman quarterback Jarrett Stidham played like a savvy veteran to lead the No. 2 Bears to a 31-24 victory Thursday at Snyder Family Stadium.
Hubener evoked memories of former Wildcat quarterback Collin Klein, hitting holes for tough yards and breaking free for some big runs, scoring on a 1-yard sneak and a 34-yard breakaway to bring life to an offense that had scored only 19 points the previous 10 quarters over three games.
