K-State beats Texas on D.J. Johnson three-point play

AUSTIN, Texas — Kansas State kept air in its NCAA Tournament bubble.

K-State was hanging by a thread in the projected brackets despite losing six of seven games, but another loss at Texas could have been a crushing blow.

The Wildcats played one of their finest offensive halves of the season in the opening period, and despite bogging down in the second half they survived adversity to pull out a 64-61 victory over the Longhorns at Erwin Center.

D.J. Johnson’s three-point play with a tip-in and free throw with 1.6 seconds left capped a wild finish that kept the Wildcats’ postseason hopes alive.
