Kansas State opened the regular season with an 80-53 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Friday night at Bramlage Coliseum.
Wesely Iwundu had a career-best game for K-State, scoring a career-high 23 points to go with 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals. It was the most points for the 6-foot-7 junior guard since scoring 14 in a season-opening loss to Northern Colorado two years ago.
Kansas State led 35-21 at halftime after K-State’s Justin Edwards hit a three-pointer with time winding down and, conversely, UMES went 3-of-15 on three-pointers and turned the ball over 12 times in the first half.
