MANHATTAN — When Kansas State begins its Big 12 basketball schedule, the first two games are against West Virginia and Texas.
Those games are almost two months away, but as the Wildcats tip off their season Friday they may get a taste of what is to come. The defensive pressure employed by West Virginia and new Texas coach Shaka Smart is a style played by Maryland-Eastern Shore, the Cats’ opponent at 7 p.m. at Bramlage Coliseum.
“They’ll play a scrambling defense, lots of match-up zone and they’ll trap first pass and a little bit of pressing,” K-State coach Bruce Weber said of the Hawks.
