K-State basketball builds confidence with road victory

MANHATTAN — Kansas State won only one true road basketball game last season, so when the Wildcats pulled out a two-point road win last Friday at Georgia, they were sky high.

Rallying from a 12-point first-half deficit, the Wildcats won 68-66 on freshman Dean Wade’s bucket with four seconds remaining.

“The excitement in the locker room was like we won a championship,” coach Bruce Weber said. “It was a big step, and how we won the game fighting back and making plays down the stretch were real good confidence builders for the kids.”

It was a step forward for the Wildcats (6-1), who try to build on that momentum when they face Coppin State (2-6) at 7 p.
