LAWRENCE — Kansas State appeared to be on its way to another Saturday slump.
In five previous Big 12 series, K-State won the series opener Friday but lost on Saturday. The Wildcats began the Sunflower Showdown at Kansas with a Friday win, but Saturday the Jayhawks led 3-0 after three innings and were up 4-1 after seven.
“I knew we weren’t out of it at 4-1, even though it looked like it,” K-State coach Brad Hill said. “These guys have shown all year that we can come back.”
The Wildcats finally got to KU starter Drew Morovick, knocking him out of the game with three straight singles to open the eighth inning.
