MANHATTAN — The last home game of Kansas State’s baseball season was essentially the story of its season: Fall behind early, scratch out a couple of runs to hang around only to come up short.
Oklahoma scored three runs in the first inning, then K-State’s bullpen shut down the Sooners with only one unearned run over the final eight innings. The Wildcats squandered a couple of prime scoring opportunities and stranded the tying run at third base in the bottom of the ninth inning in a 4-3 loss Sunday at Tointon Family Stadium.
“That’s been us all year,” said senior third baseman Carter Yagi, who led off the ninth with a single and reached third but couldn’t make it home.
