K-State athletics to phase out student privilege fees

MANHATTAN — The Kansas State athletics department, in conjunction with the Student Government Association, announced Friday it will phase out the annual receipt of student privilege fees.

The K-State Student Senate approved the legislation that will reduce allocations to athletics to $450,000 in fiscal year 2017, $350,000 in 2018 and $200,000 in 2019 with the anticipation that the allocations will then cease. Currently, students fees have an allocation of $500,695 which is used in part to defray a portion of the $1.1 million in salaries for student workers at athletic events.
